The Unreal World Too Strangely Near

See the Elephant, issue 4 (2018)Yes, it’s certainly been a minute since I posted (ETA: almost three years to the day), so I hope you’ll forgive the long lapse in posting as well as my extreme tardiness in posting this news: my story “The Unreal World Too Strangely Near” appears in Issue Four of See the Elephant! The issue was published in October 2018, which is almost 21 years after I wrote the first draft in August-September 1997.

Twenty-one years from first draft to publication–just goes to show that persistence is perhaps the most important attribute a writer can have.

In my files, I have the first note I ever wrote about this story, which is a complete spoiler so you’ll need to highlight it to read it: Man wakes up to find spots on his body—spots develop into a map of another world.

If you’d like to read “The Unreal World Too Strangely Near,” you can purchase the fourth issue of See the Elephant directly from the publisher Metaphysical Circus Press, or from Weightless Books or Amazon.
